If you're at all serious about having many people use an application you've written you should consider spending some time tuning it for optimal performance. Performance tuning in any reasonably sized chunk of code is no easy feat and your intuition about problem areas can often be misleading. There are many tools available to help you tune your application but their price tag is clearly aimed at large companies, not student developers on a budget. Enter Shark! Shark is a performance analysis tools that Apple bundles with its XCode tools. Better yet, all the Xcode tools are completely free to use so you have no reason not to tune your application. Come learn the ins and outs of using Shark you help us tune an example application.
