FAQ

Q: When/where is the conference?

CUTC 2008 is taking place January 10 - 12, 2008 at the Hilton Toronto Hotel, located in the heart of Toronto’s exciting Downtown district. Directions to the hotel can be found here.

If you would like to stay at the Hilton Toronto Hotel, CUTC has arranged for special discount rates just for you. Due to hotel safety regulations, the maximum number of delegates per room is 4.

Q: How much does the conference cost? Is there an early bird price?

The early-bird registration price is $100 CAD, if you pay before Sunday, December 24, 2007.

If you choose to pay after this date, the fee will be $120.00 CAD. However, several programs/universities have generously offered to subsidize the registration fee. You can check to see your eligibility for a subsidy by entering your university and program details into the Subsidies Search page within the myCUTC registration system. Once you have selected an applicable subsidy, the discount will be included in the calculation of your registration cost and will be displayed accordingly.

Additional funding that is not posted on this website may also be available. For more information on this, as well as transportation and hotel arrangements of students coming from your school, please contact your school's ambassador.

Q: What does the registration fee cover?

The registration fee gives you access to all 5 Keynotes for the duration of the conference and all of CUTC 2008's 30 events (Seminars, TechShow, TechTours, TechExpo, TechTeam). Please note, Seminars, TechShops and TechTours have limited seating so please register early if you can in order to be able to choose the event of your preference. The registration fee also covers Breakfast and Lunch for all three days of the conference (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) as well as the Banquet Dinner on Saturday. The registration fee does not cover accommodation for the duration of the conference.

Q: How do I register and select my seminars?

In order to register for the conference, you have to create a myCUTC account. The process is broken down into steps as you will see once you have created your profile on myCUTC.

Seminar registration will occur closer to the date of the conference, to ensure that the information about the various speakers and seminar timings is as reliable as possible.

Q: How can I find out if I'm eligible for a subsidy?

You can check to see your eligibility for a subsidy by visiting the myCUTC page and creating a profile.

On the MyCUTC page, you will be prompted to enter your school/program information to calculate your registration cost. Applicable subsidies will be included in the calculation of your registration cost and the result will be displayed accordingly.

Q: What can I do for accomodations?

CUTC 2008 will be held at the Hilton Toronto Hotel in downtown Toronto, and we highly recommend that you stay at the hotel as well.

The registration fee does not cover accommodation for the conference duration. However, discounted conference rates are available for students booking rooms under the CUTC conference code.

In order to best accommodate the needs of all delegates (i.e. roommate preference, number of nights at hotel, size of room, etc.), the CUTC is requesting that delegates deal with the hotel directly for booking their rooms.

Due to hotel safety regulations, the maximum number of delegates per room is 4. Please refer to the Delegate Guide for room booking information.
