Conference Events

TechPanel
CUTC 2009 will see the inauguration of TechPanel, an open panel discussion between 2-4 industry representatives, from several companies and 50-100 delegates. Several hot topics in industry will be discussed such as cloud computing, mobile communication and next-generation consoles.
TechShops
The aim of TechShops is to promote new and exciting technologies amongst our delegates by engaging them in interactive workshops. The delegates gain hands-on experience with new technology and obtain key skills through on-site labs conducted by industry leaders. The participating organizations benefit by using the workshops to introduce and promote their products, projects and ideas. Past TechShops have included an Eclipse Web Tools tutorial by IBM, a 3D animation crash course using Alias Maya, and a Dynamic Programming for the Mac by Apple. These workshops are extremely beneficial to both delegates and sponsors. The delegates are exposed to brand new skills while the company sponsors acquire useful feedback from future users.
TechTours
Each year delegates get an opportunity to enhance their vision of real-world technological research by touring the facilities of some of our sponsors. This allows students to learn about a company's innovation nor only through representatives' presentations but also by observing how these innovations take place. Past TechTours include a Virtual Reality tour at DXNet, Bell Sympatico's Broadband Home and a tour of MD Robotics (developer of the Canadarm).
TechTeam
In 2007, the introduction of the TechTeam event had a remarkably successful impact on the delegates and industry professionals alike. Ever since it's overwhelming debut, this event has been held annually at CUTC. This highly interactive design competition challenges delegates to develop and present innovative solutions to real world case-study style problems as proposed by TechTeam hosts. Delegates will work in groups to build upon an idea and present a feasible solution to their respective board of sponsor judges. The outstanding teams will be recognized with a Best Design Award at the CUTC closing banquet. Past TechTeam events were hosted by AMD, CBET, Facebook, Infusion Development, Intel Lenovo, Microsoft, Nortel, and RIM.
TechShow
TechShow is CUTC's entertaining main event that provides delegates with an interactive and enjoyable presentation of technology-based demonstrations. The event includes engaging acts from lively and energetic hosts who can connect with the interests of students. Past topics have focused on business-related discussions, fun and comical tributes to current technology giants and industry leaders, and more. TechShow is always a visual and educational success and this year's show will prove to be no exception.
"TechShow was done in a "talk-show" style and was just so much fun to be a part of! 500 students and all future developers in the audience! Just an awesome event."
Conducted in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere with plenty of interaction and exchange of ideas between the guests and the delegates, TechShow has become one of CUTC's not to be missed events.
TechExpo
TechExpo is one of the most anticipated CUTC events. It is where the latest technological advancements of leading industry players and researchers are brought to the exhibit floor. It showcases a diverse portfolio of technology, and offers delegates a high level of interaction with industry representatives, academic researchers, and student groups alike. For companies, TechExpo offers the opportunity to showcase cool technology to a wide variety of future industry leaders. It also provides a prime opportunity for recruitment amongst the best and the brightest undergrads in North America.
Engaging personalities and an exhibition with cutting edge technology solutions for both today and tomorrow are all part of the TechExpo experience which has grown to over 30 companies and organizations participating annually.
